HOMAGE TO A GOLDEN YESTERDAY

Does your mind ever take you back to a time here in Oz when people largely went about their lives and business in a satisfied manner, when migrants and 'new' Australians contributed to our culture and economy fruitfully...away from ghettos and enclaves, when we all showed a basic recognition for one another through good manners and 'respect', when our support agencies, like Centrelink, attempted to look after the disadvantaged and the marginalised and were not hampered by an enormous number of 'bludgers' and ne'er-do-wells, and when the future was in our own hands?

 

My mind goes back to that golden age.

 

And the nearest I can 'peg' that time is roughly about five minutes ago.
